Thank you to the community leaders, employers, and individual supporters whose collective efforts empower women to achievement.
DONOR STORIES
Dr. Melanie Watkins
Dr. Melenie Watkins received scholarships from NWF from 1995 to 2002 and earned her medical degree from UNR. Today, she works as a psychiatrist in Walnut Creek, CA. After establishing her career, Dr. Watkins created her own scholarship with NWF, which has supported the education of fifteen local women over the past decade.
Women Leaders of Douglas County
In June 2024, a group of women leaders from Douglas County attended a lunch and learn hosted by Nevada Women’s Fund. Inspired by the Fund's mission and its dedication to supporting women in rural communities, they collectively raised funds to award a Nevada Women’s Fund Scholarship to a deserving graduate from Douglas County.
SilverSummit HealthPlan
SilverSummit HealthPlan, a Medicaid insurance provider, is committed to supporting the education of its female members through the NWF scholarship program. Since 2022, SSHP has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to local women, empowering not only their lives but also the lives of their families, fostering generational change in the process.
Persing Professional Group
NWF Corporate Scholarship Program serves as a workforce pipeline for the local CPA firm Persing Professional Group. PPG strategically awards scholarships to women enrolled in accounting at the University of Nevada. In addition to the scholarship, PPG offers paid internships, which have led to the hiring of two full-time employees who are on track to become CPAs after graduation.
