Celebrating Achievement - Elko

 

Since its founding in the early 1980s, Nevada Women’s Fund has supported women living and studying in rural Nevada communities. In 2023, the organization expanded its mission with the launch of the Rural Nevada Initiative, which includes a commitment to increasing outreach and awarding at least 25% of annual scholarship funding to women in rural Nevada. By 2024, this percentage rose to 33%, totaling $165,000, underscoring the organization’s growing support and commitment.

To honor these women and others, Nevada Women’s Fund hosted its inaugural Celebrating Achievement Dinner in Elko on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, at the Western Folklife Center. This event marked a significant step in advancing our mission by reaching out to those unfamiliar with the organization’s work and resources. What will now be an annual gathering, Celebrating Achievement, Elko combines two long-standing events traditionally held in Reno: Salute to Women of Achievement, which recognizes the contributions of women in the area, and a scholarship awards reception. The evening provided an opportunity for community leaders to come together to celebrate deserving women while also raising support and awareness for the work of Nevada Women’s Fund.​
